Unfortunately, Avid stopped manufacturing the Mbox ii serial in 2010 and ended support for most of the series in September of 2015. While Avid is no longer releasing drivers that will permit the Mbox 2 series of devices to work with Pro Tools 12.0 and to a higher place, drivers that are compatible with Pro Tools 9, 10, & eleven can exist found here. If you experiencing problems when using an Mbox 2 with Pro Tools 12.0 or higher, y'all will need to uninstall Pro Tools 12 and reinstall a uniform version. Click here for uninstall instructions.

Manually uninstalling Mbox 2 drivers on Mac:

Some Mac computers that have Core2Duo processors will experience issues with the Mbox ii from Digidesign with the latest driver. To restore functionality, you will need to manually uninstall the Mbox 2 drivers and install version 10.3.3. Follow the instructions below to manually remove the drivers:

Open Finder and navigate to Macintosh HD > Organization > Library > Extensions and move the following items to the trash:
- digiDal.kext
- digiIO.kext
- DigidesignMbox2.kext
- DigidesignMbox2Boot.kext
Side by side, go dorsum to Macintosh Hard disk and open the Library folder.
Navigate to Audio > Plug-Ins > HAL and motion the following particular to the trash:
- DigidesignCoreAudio.plugin
Go back to the Audio folder and navigate to the MIDI Drivers folder, and so remove the following item:
- DigidesignMbox2MIDI.plugin
Go dorsum to the Library folder, and so navigate to Startupitems and move the following items to the trash:
- Digidesign Mbox2
- DigidesignLoader
Next, get to your User Library. To access this, click on the Finder Get menu at the peak of your screen and select Library (for Mac OS Ten ten.7 King of beasts and later, you will need to hold the Option key on your keyboard to reveal the Library selection).
Once in the User Library binder, go to the Preferences folder and movement the following items to the trash:
- com.digi.ptools.plist
- DAE Prefs
- DigiSetup.OSX
- Pro Tools Prefs
Finally, empty your trash and restart your computer. If you can't empty the trash because some of the files are in use, restart your computer first, and so empty the trash.

At present that y'all've manually uninstalled the Mbox ii drivers, download and install version 10.iii.3 of the Mbox 2 drivers. You can download them here (download should showtime automatically).
